pioneer day celebrations

this year for pioneer day we were actually home to celebrate. (we seem to be on vacation every other year) so we woke up early on saturday the 21st to go to the draper days parade. this is a tradition that my family has been doing for as long as i can remember. tony, being the great hubby he is, came too even though i know he would of rather slept in. thanks bear for comin with me! :)

just like every year all the boys (my dad, grandpa and uncle brian who were all firefighters - or still are-) bring their water extinguishers to squirt the fire trucks. surprisingly they didn't fight back this year which could be a good thing cuz i didn't want my camera ruined!

 we are pretty sure that whoever owns this car works at fashion place mall cuz we see it there all the time!

 obviously my favorite part of the parade is the cars... haha

then after the parade we (meaning the whole mitchell family) all head over to my grandparents house to eat and all the kiddos play on the blow up water slides my grandparents set up. this year they also decided to have an auction of $5 gifts. we ended up with a box of airheads and some bubbles. we thought the dogs would have fun with the bubbles... and we were right. they just like to eat them... haha silly pups!

then on the 24th me and tony still had to work but i got off a few hours early (the same time as tony) so we could head over to my parents house for some bbq steak.

plus brittney and drew are here for a the week so we also got to see them. drew was having fun playing in the water.

drew even warmed up to me pretty quickly and we ended up playing "golf" for like a hour. his version of golf includes him throwing the golf ball into the plants and then chasing it when i would hit it with the club. he found this very hilarious!

then my dad got the fire going and we cooked some s'mores! they were so delicious!!

in case you can't tell brittney is being attacked by a marshmallow that tony has on a stick... haha

then after we hung out and played a mean game of catch we left. i would say we had a successful pioneer day! :)

 ps britt got me some cute earrings for my birthday but of course tony had to try them out first... haha love him!
