just two weeks after getting back from florida we packed up our car and headed to southern nevada! we left monday july 11th after i got off work. tuesday and wednesday were our relaxing days in mesquite. we slept in, went swimming, played the 3:00 bingo (i won $50 both days!! woohoo! take that old people and your machines! haha), ate at popeyes, went back to the pool, and then sat at the condo watching our new favorite shows, pawn stars and storage wars.
us relaxing...
then on thursday natalie and taylor met us in mesquite around noon. we then headed over to popeyes and hit the 1:00 bingo! sadly none of us won... anyways... tony and taylor really wanted to go golfing... so while they golfed me and nat hit the pool to work on our tans. when the boys got back we packed up the car and headed to vegas!
we stayed at THEhotel at the mandalay bay. it was a pretty nice room!
the alcohol provided in our room... haha
the funny thing about our hotel was that everything was titled with THE first... like the picture below...THEtp
the first night we were on the 3rd floor with a bad view of a parking lot, but thanks to some sweet talking from tony we got bumped up to the 29th floor the next 2 nights with a MUCH better view.
at night...
friday morning we decided to go to the las vegas temple. (which almost didn't happen... but thanks to my dad and nate for helping to get our temple clothes to us... haha) we both agreed that it was probably the prettiest temple we had been in.
that night we walked the strip and ended up riding the new york new york rollar coaster. weirdly enough tony (who is not fond of rollar coasters) decides he wants to sit in the very front... until he got on and we were making the climb to the top... anyways... it wasn't that great at all. it was really rough and not the most exciting... oh well!
here are some random pictures from walking the strip that night.
oh yes... i saw michael jackson again! :)
me and nat comparing our hands with shaq's... haha
tony and david spade have the same size hands!
and this is what i caught tony doing while i'm busy taking pictures.... watching ants...
saturday morning while waiting for our breakfast to be made we saw a sign saying pete rose was going to be signing autographs starting at noon. (keep in mind we were eating breakfast at like 11:30... haha) so after contemplating for a while we decided to pay the $100 to get his autograph! we are all really happy we did. (it could be worth lots in a few years.... haha)
then we headed out to the beach at our hotel... me and nat were looking forward to this only to be disappointed with all the people that were there!
there were literally no chairs anywhere! after an hour of the lazy river and very disappointing wave pool we left. after all we still had some exhibits to see! we bought a pass that for $54 you could choose 3 attractions to see. we chose the ny ny rollar coaster, the titanic exhibit and the bodies exhibit. we both LOVED the titanic exhibit. needless to say i already found the story (and movie) fascinating and very sad. inside they had stories of people on the titanic, artifacts they have recovered, a piece of the side of titanic, and they even remade portions of the boat to make you feel you were really there. it was awesome! we were even given a card at the beginning with a name of a person aboard the titanic and their story. at the end they had a list of those who died or lived and we had to search the wall for the name on our card. sadly i was the only one who died...

this has the picture of the giant piece of titanic i mentioned
sadly the bodies exhibit wasn't what we were expecting. it was still interesting and insightful but it just wasn't as cool as we thought.
after we finished the exhibits we walked the strip again. this time we visited the m&m and coke factories. and believe it or not... tony bought a golf ball with the coke logo! (for those of you who don't know... tony only drinks pepsi...)
sunday morning we got up and headed back to mesquite and said goodbye to nat and taylor.
and we had the rest of the night to swim, play bingo and watch more tv! :)
we had a blast going to vegas with nat and taylor and can't wait to do it again next year! :) both me and tony love vegas and the surprising relaxed feeling there. and thanks again grandma and grandpa jensen for letting us crash your condo! :)
(by the way... sorry about the long posts... maybe i will have to learn from britt and start breaking down my vacation blogs into several little ones instead of a huge long novel! haha)
